This will ensure the proper and effective ordering of drugs and appliances and their clinical and cost effective use, their safe storage, supply and administration and proper record keeping. We analyse and improve these by trying to create an environment where Pharmacists and pharmacy staff can give you the best possible pharmaceutical care. An annual patient satisfaction survey is used to get honest feedback about how you feel we are doing and where we can improve.

We can supply medical appliances and offer information and clinical advice if you use any of the following appliances: certain catheter appliances, tracheostomy and laryngectomy appliances; anal irrigation systems; a vacuum pump or constrictor ring for erectile dysfunction, wound drainage pouches, incontinence appliances and stoma appliances. We can also deliver it to your home at a convenient time to you.

Do not attempt to dispose of medicines yourself, instead please return all unwanted medicines to the pharmacy where we will dispose of them safely. We accept unwanted medicines, from households and individuals, which require safe disposal. Medicines will be collected and disposed of safely from pharmacies.

If you are unable to contact your doctor, or in an emergency situation, we may be able to help. Genuine emergencies include out of hours, closed GP surgeries etc. We will require proof or evidence of the medication you may need and you may incur a non-refundable charge. We can collect your prescription and have it ready for you to collect from the pharmacy when it is convenient for you. We can also deliver it to your door if you cannot collect it in the pharmacy. Please ask one of our pharmacy staff for more details and sign up to the service today.

Let our accredited pharmacist have a discussion with you about the medication you take. It is a structured review with patients on multiple medicines, particularly those receiving medicines for long term conditions. During the discussion we attempt to establish a picture of the use of your medicines - both prescribed and non-prescribed. The review will help you understand your therapy and it will identify any problems you are experiencing along with possible solutions. A report of the review will be provided to the patient and to their GP should there be anything for them to consider.

We keep a wide range of over the counter medicines and also vitamins and mineral supplements. Please ask our fully trained pharmacy staff for help and advice on selecting the best product for you.

The pharmacy will help support independent living in groups of vulnerable people, or those with special needs, who do not fall within the Disability Discrimination Act 1995 criteria. We can assess your knowledge and use of your medicines and the appropriate level or kind of support, if any, required to help you take the medicines as intended. If support is necessary, the pharmacist will agree with you or your carer the appropriate level or kind of support. We can also provide advice, support and assistance to you with a view to improving your knowledge and use of medicines and compliance, or we may need to refer you to another health or social care professional. Pharmacy support could include compliance charts, screw top closures, medication administration record (MAR) charts, labelling medicines in large fonts and multi-compartment compliance aids.

Our pharmacy can provide you with advice and support on the management of minor ailments (e.g. coughs, colds, hay fever, pain, head lice etc; including where necessary, the supply of medicines for the treatment of the minor ailment, as an alternative to visiting your GP for a prescription. This might also include referral to another healthcare professional.

For a number of reasons, including side effects, the need for further information and practicalities of taking their medicines, it is estimated that between 33 and 50% of medicines are not taken as prescribed. The NMS provides early support to patients to identify any problems they may be having with their medicines and identify solutions to these problems. As part of the service any further information you may need is also provided. This should enable you to maximise the benefits of the medication they have been prescribed. This consultation is based on three discussions with the pharmacist based on different times after starting the new medication prescribed to you.

This service is aimed at the supply of specialist medicines, the demand for which may be urgent and/or unpredictable, for example palliative care, tuberculosis and bacterial meningitis treatments. We stock a locally agreed range of specialist medicines and will make a commitment to ensure that users of this service have prompt access to these medicines at all times agreed with the local commissioning body. Our fully trained Pharmacist can provide information and advice to the patient, carer and clinician. We will provide information to you should you require further support, advice or treatment which we cannot provide. This may include other health and social care providers or support organisations which may be better able to assist you. If appropriate, we will use a formal referral method.

During the seasonal influenza vaccination campaign period, pharmacy staff can identify people who fall within the nationally agreed target groups, who are a priority for influenza vaccination and will encourage them to be vaccinated. The immunisation programme will be focused between 1st September and 31st January. Eligible patients who do not have any contra-indications to vaccination will be offered vaccination by a fully trained and accredited Pharmacist. The vaccination will be administered under the authority of a locally agreement which will include the locally agreed eligibility criteria. * Only available if commissioned in accordance with a local agreement.

Where ever possible, our trained pharmacy staff will provide advice and support to help you manage your own and family’s health. The Pharmacist and trained staff will provide advice to any patients (including carers) who request help with the treatment of minor illness and long-term conditions. This will include general information and advice on how to manage illness. The Pharmacists and pharmacy staff can also provide advice on how to use a wide range of non-prescription medicines (sold in our branches), which can be used in the self-care of minor illness and long-term conditions.
